LA SUA ESPERIENZA COME GIOVANE IMPRENDITORE
The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Programme has been a complete success for both the New and Host Entrepreneurs, who were able to build a valuable and efficient working collaboration.
During the EYE Programme, I could substantially develop my professional legal skills, exploring different areas of EU and International Law and working on concrete cases. In particular, I had the opportunity to conduct an extensive research on EU public procurement law, investigating the possible implications in this field for business companies involved in grave human rights violations. I participated in the formulation of the legal strategy for demanding the exclusion of these companies from tender procedures in The Netherlands and in other EU countries; under the supervision of the Host Entrepreneur, I also followed closely different practical cases. In this regard, I had the opportunity to draft a number of legal briefs and documents (e.g. strategy plan, executive summaries, advocacy notes), thus significantly improving my writing skills. Finally, I had the opportunity to collaborate with several lawyers, scholars and practitioners part of the Host Entrepreneur’s personal network: this allowed me both to learn and improve thanks to the relationship with professionals and, at the same time, to develop a network of contacts useful for my future professional career.
On its part, the Host Entrepreneur and his organisation have benefited from my professional contribution in the every-day work tasks, mostly with regard to activities of legal research and draft of legal documents. In particular, the research that I carried out concerning public procurement law and the implications for suppliers violating human rights, allowed Host Entrepreneur to expand its legal activities, enabling him to acquire expertise in the field of business and human rights and, thus, to expand his business opportunities. Moreover, in the last months I followed some practical cases independently, effectively helping the Host Entrepreneur to maintain contact with partners and to write the necessary documents.
To conclude, the collaboration with my Host Entrepreneurs has been so useful and positive that it will continue in the future and beyond the EYE Programme. Indeed, the legal research on procurement I developed could be deepened and developed, and some of the cases have remained open. Given the experience I gained on the issue, and the Host Entrepreneur’s willingness to continue to cooperate, there are all the bases for a future workingrelationship.
